Sunday, April 9th marks the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, considered by many to be an iconic moment in Canadian History.
Van-Fraser Heritage Club has produced a listing of Post Office Department (now Canada Post) employees who were lost or wounded in the time frame prior to the Battle and in the Battle itself. The list of those killed is a complete listing based upon information available on the Virtual War Memorial Website.
The list of those wounded is incomplete as Library and Archives Canada is only halfway through uploading all WWI Canadian Expeditionary Force Files on to their Website. There are 508 Post Office Department Employees whose files we still have not been able to review. We will continue to review employee files as we work to complete these lists of recognition.
